
Liz Haas (she, her) is an experienced clinical social worker dedicated to advancing sexual health and education. With 20 years of clinical social work experience and 17 years specializing in sexual health, Liz brings a wealth of expertise to her field.
Her clinical background includes extensive work at the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Hospital, where she provided comprehensive care in the Primary Care Mental Health Integration and the Substance Use Disorders Clinics. Liz implemented evidence-based interventions addressing a spectrum of issues, including sexual health, chronic pain, insomnia, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, personality disorders, and substance use problems. Notably, she served as a VA trainer for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Pain (CBTCT), contributing to research in this area and coauthoring "Treating chronic pain in veterans presenting to addictions treatment program" (Ilgen et al, 2011).
Her commitment to advancing education is reflected in her previous role as a lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Social Work, where she taught graduate-level courses in social work practice, sexual health interventions, therapeutic assessment, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
She currently serves as Assistant Director of the University of Michigan Sexual Health Certification Program, where she influences curriculum development, mentors emerging professionals, and helps prepare the next generation of sexuality educators, therapists, and counselors through evidence-based, interdisciplinary training.
